B2B Marketing Manager Position Description


The B2B Marketing Manager works with North Star’s Clients, Project Managers, Copywriters, Designers, Programmers and Marketing Support team. This is a full time, on-site position that requires a working knowledge of online marketing.

This B2B Marketing Manager position is best suited for a candidate with advanced studies in marketing, public relations, mass communications, and/or online marketing.

The B2B Marketing Manager will work extensively with several accounts, implementing online marketing strategies and coordinating account support through a dedicated Project Manager.

Excellent oral, written communication and online research skills are essential to the success of this position. In addition to technical skills, the B2B marketing manager must have strong account management skills, the ability to organize teams, steward projects, and meet client deadlines. This position requires a strong working knowledge of strategic planning, inbound marketing methodology, paid search (PPC), content marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), display advertising and social media. Programming experience is not required, but technical aptitude is a must.

The B2B Marketing Manager will add and edit website content using content management systems such as WordPress, as well as manage client campaigns in inbound marketing, SEO and PPC software platforms. Ability to perform keyword research in AdWords and to manipulate data on spreadsheet applications is a must. Excellent communication and research skills are essential to the success of this position. The B2B Marketing Manager must have the ability to move across projects, quickly organize information and deliver on deadlines in a fast-paced environment across a wide range of industries.

The B2B Marketing Manager candidate should possess exceptional skills in promotional writing with an emphasis on content strategies tailored to specific buyer personas. Applicants must also be able to purposely develop content that aligns with overall client marketing goals and strategy. Candidates will be asked to demonstrate the ability to craft compelling content and must have an aptitude for proper writing technique, including spelling, punctuation and grammar.


BS/BA required
2 years digital or online advertising experience preferred

Day-to-day activities include:

  • Communicating with clients and team members to align resources for multiple retainer clients
  • Organizing and running meetings, then tracking the resulting projects through delivery
  • Tracking projects from purchase order through invoicing
  • Gathering necessary assets to develop a campaign (photos, copy, digital assets, brochures, etc.)
  • Briefing project manager and creative team members on client strategy and project engagements
  • Recommending marketing tactics to clients under management
  • Communicating timelines to clients, obtaining client feedback and working through edits/revisions, project approvals, and sign-off
  • Affirming all billing information is recorded and associated with the appropriate projects
  • Leading strategy and planning sessions for client campaigns
  • Helping clients understand inbound marketing methodology and tactics, as well as traditional marketing initiatives
  • Identifying and recommending opportunities to provide additional value through add-on services
  • Developing, reviewing, and sending proposals for new opportunities
  • Contributing to the research, development, and production of quality content for online and offline channels
  • Reviewing final work to make sure it’s in alignment with the client’s marketing strategy
  • Increasing awareness of client brands, products, and services through outreach and social media amplification
  • Optimizing campaigns for SEO, using keyword research and help develop metrics to show ROI
  • Developing well-structured content for use in marketing automation
  • Monitoring the health of the client relationship through proactive communication and regular check-ins
